This site is independent and is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or any government agency. We are not connected to the Veterans Benefits Administration, the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, the Social Security Administration, or any state veterans agency.
For official information, always go to VA.gov. Official forms, filing systems, decision letters, appeal options, and current compensation rates come only from VA.gov, the VA’s toll-free line at 800-827-1000, and VA regional offices. If our explanation of a rule ever conflicts with the official source, the official source is right and we are wrong — and we would like to hear about it at support@lawyers.lyricalguy.com.

The word “lawyers” appears in our domain because we write about the legal machinery of VA claims. It does not mean we are one. We are an independent editorial project, not a law firm. Our writers are not attorneys, not VA-accredited representatives, and not claims agents.

We also write about how VA compensation interacts with other programs, creditors, and family planning. That is general information, not financial, tax, or estate-planning advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional who can look at your actual circumstances.
Accuracy and currency
VA rules, appeal procedures, deadlines, and payment rates change — compensation rates are adjusted at least annually, and procedural rules shift as regulations and case law develop. We date our articles, mark reviewed and updated dates, and cite the year when we mention figures, but you should always confirm current numbers against the official VA rate tables and the current Title 38 regulations before making a decision or a filing. Deadlines in particular are unforgiving; verify them with the VA or an accredited representative rather than with us.
